Bharatanatyam is more than dance — it is philosophy, spirituality, and storytelling in motion. Once offered in temples and now performed worldwide, its essence remains rooted in the Nātya Shāstra, uniting art with spirit.

ABOUT THE GURU

Smt. Parimala Hansoge, Artistic Director of Kalāvāhini Dance Academy, is a distinguished Bharatanatyam artist trained in the Kalakshetra style. An ISTD-approved tutor and ICCR-empanelled performer, she mentors students globally, blending tradition with innovation. Recognised as “Nritya Nipuna” she inspires disciplined, confident dancers who carry cultural values worldwide.

About Kalāvāhini Dance Academy

Kalāvāhini Dance Academy imparts intensive training in Dance. We also encourage our students to learn Sanskrit, Indian Literature, Mythology, Poetry, Aesthetics, History of Dance, Philosophy, Spiritual thought and Theory of Dance.

The classes are educative and interactive, encouraging creative expression and inculcating an awareness of the interdisciplinary approach by understanding the inter-relatedness of all art forms and physical traditions.

Our Centre provides an environment that fosters the artistic, intellectual and personal growth preparing students for successful and productive lives. Our Centre aims to teach students Bharatanatyam not as an entertaining art form but as Natya Yoga that reveals the spiritual through the physical and emotional body.

Smt. Parimala Hansoge is an amazing Bharatanatyam Dancer. We are fortunate to witness her dancing. Parimala started teaching Bharatanatyam to my daughter Unnathi at the age of 8 in United Kingdom. She is an excellant teacher with lots of patience and dedication. She understands childs ability and encourages them to achieve full potential. She is very passionate and dedicated teacher who along with teaching Bharatanatyam, taught kids about Indian culture, mythology and various other life lessons. She guided her through ISTD exams teaching dance as well as required music/ tala and various performances during my daughter's dance journey. Parimala conducted Unnathi's arengtram in United kingdom and took responsibilty of arranging the auditorium, photoshoot,live music and decoration etc going above and beyond being teacher. Learning to dance under Ms. Parimala Hansoge was one of the most meaningful parts of my artistic journey. She was not only an exceptional teacher but also a deeply supportive and compassionate person who encouraged me to follow my passions both inside and outside dance. Her classes were full of joy, patience, and dedication, and she created an environment where I felt inspired to grow. Her guidance played a major role in helping me work toward my Arangetram—an achievement I could never have imagined reaching without her. The performances and choreography she crafted were always thoughtful, creative, and unforgettable. Parimala, An excellent guru —a name that carries its own gentle poetry.Wherever she steps, she brings the quiet fragrance of dedication,the calm strength of compassion,and the soft glow that turns hesitant learnersinto confident dancers.She nurtures every student like a flower in her care,guiding each one from a closed budto a full, graceful bloom. As a Bharatanatyam teacher, her commitment is both inspiring and unwavering. Her clarity in teaching, her patience, and her ability to bring out the individuality in every dancer make her truly exceptional. She not only refines technique but also builds confidence, discipline, and a deep respect for the art form. Over the years, she has trained students across the entire spectrum —from ISTD Grade 1through higher gradesand up to the Diploma level in the Bharatanatyam genre —ensuring each dancer grows with strong foundations and artistic maturity. Under her guidance, I proudly became one of the first students to pursue and complete my ISTD Diploma in Dance Education in 2024. Her encouragement played a vital role in shaping my journey. Today, I lead my own school, Gejje, in Chester, where I train around 25 ISTD students — a path inspired and nurtured by her mentorship.
